W/C 17th July.

Martin Gardner and Martin Webster both had a brilliant day's fishing on Tuesday as both landed a grilse apiece, best at 4lb for Martin Webster from Upper Plantation. The other grilse, from Crofts, was 3lb. A decent sea trout was also caught in Upper Fontie. A good number of fish were seen in Crofts that day.

The weather on Deeside was again, unseasonably cool. Most days were predominantly cloudy although dry. Any showers that fell, were at times, heavy in nature and tended to occur later in the day. Saturday was a fine day although the wind did blow from the East.

After the long awaited spate last weekend, the water level dropped back fairly quickly and is now below the summer level mark. There is still a tinge of colour to it also. The water temperature ranged from the mid to late fifties.
